OLYMPIC FERRO the "Black Pearl" of the Netherlands who captured the hearts of dressage fans around the world during many international performances under Coby Van Baalen. Magnificent, powerful, awe-inspiring. FERRO inspired a fresh influence in the Dutch breeding program. He captured the Team Silver at the 1998 World Equestrian Games, 1999 European Championships and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He is one of the KWPN's foundation stallions, having sired over ten licensed sons. His legacy includes an impressive list of KWPN approved sons: KENNEDY, METALL, NEGRO, ROUSSEAU, PYREIT, PADDOX, RHODIUMand OSMIUM. The British AES approved sons: JAZZ DANCER and LORENZO; and the NRPS licensed and approved one other, FERROLAN. FERRO sired the year 2000 Champion Stallion of the KWPN Stallion Show in Den Bosch and the 2000 Champion KWPN Mare at Ermelo. With scores of successful offspring to his credit, Ferro earned the important predicate of PREFERENT stallion in the KWPN studbooks.
FERRO held the No 1 position of the BN World Stallion Rankings late into his career and maintained an outstanding dressage index of 153 with the KWPN, boasting an impressive 87% reliability index. As a three-year old, he was Champion of his stallion performance test at Ermelo with impressive scores of 8.5 for his trot and canter. Olympic Ferro left over 35 Keur Preferant daughters, 145 Star daughters, 300 Studbook daughters and 150 1st Premium foals.
FERRO was also valued for his jumping influence. With over 111 points in the KWPN's jumping index and an 80% reliability factor, his jumping influence is readily explained further back in his pedigree. His sire ULFT (Keur) descends from the valued influence of the KWPN Dutch stallion LE MEXICO, who ranked 10th on the jumping index with 142 points. LE MEXICO bears the world renowned influence of FURIOSO xx. FERRO's dam BRENDA is by FARN another stronghold in the KWPN jumper index. TRITON received 9 out of 10 for free jumping and jumping under saddle at his performance test, which gave him the second highest score for the year. The additional 9's received for stable manners and cross country made him the CHAMPION of his year! His 10 clear rounds in the 1993/1994 National Stallion Competition earned him the RESERVE CHAMPION title! He then went on to win RESERVE CHAMPION a second time in the 1994/1995 Stallion Competition. TRITON then went on to International Showjumping success under Piet Raymakers. As a sire he went on to sire many Champion offspring including VSN and UTV Champions.
In the International showjumping sport he was sire to the following horses - BONAPARTE, DIMANCHE, DOLLAR ridden by Roelof Bril, ERNO and CHARMING that competed in the 1994 World Cup Final in Den Bosch.
He is also grand sire to the KWPN National showjumping sire JUPILOT (Epilot), 1.60m showjumper IMON (Emilion), International GP showjumper ISHAN II (Concorde), International GP showjumper RAISA (Burggraaf) and International GP showjumper SULEIKA (Burggraaf).
There is no doubting that not only did TRITON compete at the highest level in sport, but he has a very high prepotency for producing showjumping offspring at International level, both in his children and grand children!
