MFS STUDFARM is owned by Gordon & Caroline Ironside and was founded in 1994.

It can be found nestled in a corner of the morayfirth coast in the north east of scotland. It is situated about 5 miles from the fishing town of Macduff and is around 40 minutes drive from the city of Aberdeen and is approximately 45 minutes from Aberdeen Airport.

The stud is set in 65 acres of some of the most luxurious agriculture land in scotland, thus giving all youngstock the best of grass to start off their lives. All individual paddocks have electric fencing. The stud mares and youngstock are housed in large bright & airy barns during the winter, whilst the stallions have their own stable block. We also have a 20 x 40m outdoor arena.

The horses are fed on the best of feed, with youngsters fed on Bailey's Studbalancer. Homegrown Haylege forms the main diet for the horses throughout the winter months.

Mares are selected for temperament, correctness of conformation, movement and jumping ability & from some of the best mare lines that Germany and Holland have to offer.

The stud has two stallions, their foundation sire "ROYAL GENEVE" that the studfarm tragically lost in 2006, and the young dressage sire "MFS VISION".

Both stallions were selected for their conformation, movement, temperament and pedigrees. They have both gone on to become prominent sires in the UK, BOTH were awarded the top status of "LICENSED" by TOP KWPN judges, and several of their youngstock have been awarded 1st Premiums and "Ster" by Dutch graders from the KWPN and NRPS.

Besides these stallions we also artificially inseminate mares to some of the best sires standing in Europe. Stallions used - Heartbreaker, Stedinger, Van Gogh, Rotspon, Wallenberg, VDL Marlon, Verdi, Florencio and Fidertanz.

Each year the stud plans to put approx 3-4 mares to their own stallions and the rest to stallions from Europe that will compliment the mares.

The resulting offspring are ones with good trainability, rideability, sound with good conformation, and the ability to go to the top of their sport, coupled with the best breeding lines. Most of these offspring are then offered for sale, with some being retained for future breeding stock.
